PUNE:
Ishan Kishan, the captain of India's under-19 cricket team, met with an accident near Kankarbagh auto rickshaw stand here on Tuesday, following which he was allegedly manhandled by the locals. Six people travelling by the auto were injured after Ishan's car rammed into it.
Eye witnesses claimed that Ishan, a resident of Rajendra Nagar road No. 11, was driving a white Verna and did not stop after hitting the auto rickshaw. Locals said they stopped the car and forced him to get out. The police reached the spot in the nick of time and took both the auto driver and Ishan to Kankarbagh police station. However, no case was lodged with the police station as both parties reached a compromise.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said on Wednesday: "Nobody lodged any complaint after they were brought to the police station. However, six people were injured in the accident. Ishan's father Pranav Pandey claimed that he was driving the car, not Ishan."
Ishan told TOI he was only trying to disperse he crowd after the auto rickshaw was hit, and had gone to the police station to register an FIR as his phone was stolen in the commotion. "Neither was I detained nor arrested. Reports claiming that are absolutely false. I had gone to the police station to file an FIR as my phone was stolen," he said.
